Famar announces the integration of Madrid operations and launches steriles capacity expansion project

Sanofi-Aventis and Famar announce today the conclusion of an agreement setting the principles under which Famar would integrate the plant of Sanofi-Aventis, located at Avenida de Leganes in Alcorcon-Madrid, into its network of 11 sites across Europe.

Famar is pleased to announce the completion of its second major phase of investments at the Saint-Rémy site in France. The Saint-Rémy site, integrated to the Famar L’Aigle business unit, was taken over in 2007 from Abbott with the goal to develop it as the Center of Excellence for Sterile and Lyophilized production. Phase 1 ( June 2008): Adding a new sterile core with 2 new lyophilizers (37m² each) Phae 2 (September 2010): Adding another 2 new lyophilizers of the same size along with a high speed filling line. Today, with 6 commercial scale lyophilizers totaling more than 200m² of lyo capacity, as well as significant capacity for aseptic filling in vials, Famar has become one of the largest players in the field of lyophilization in the European contract manufacturing business. This morning, Famar and McNeil Manufacturing SAS presented the acquisition project of the McNeil Manufacturing site of Orléans la Source by Famar, to their respective Works Councils.

Since Saint Rémy site acquisition from Abbott in 2007, Famar has developed this plant as its sterile and lyophilization centre of excellence:

Famar and Abbott today announced the transfer of the St Remy sur Avre Plant to Famar, and completed the signature of a long term supply agreement for certain Abbott products.

Inauguration of our pilot unit in L`Aigle has been held on November 4th, to acquaint our customers with the development center located within the manufacturing area of Famar L`Aigle site in France.

Famar received its first Recognition in the EFQM Levels of Excellence. The division "Logistics Services" of Famar succeeded in meeting all criteria of the European program of Recognition of EFQM "Committed to Excellence".
